What we can cover
- Phones and tablets: texting, contacts, photos, and settings that make the screen easier to read and calls easier to hear
- Email: reading, replying, sending attachments, and cleaning up a crowded inbox
- Video calls with family on FaceTime, Zoom, or WhatsApp
- Photos: backing them up, sharing them, and finding old ones
- Spotting scam calls, texts, emails, and pop-ups, and knowing what never to click, answer, or pay
- Passwords: a simple, safe system you can keep up with
- A new phone or computer, from first setup until you’re comfortable using it
How I work
Lessons start with what you want to do, not a fixed lesson plan. Bring a list of what frustrates you, and we work through it on your own devices, so everything you learn applies to what you actually use.
I can leave simple written steps for anything you want to practice afterward. Family members are welcome to sit in, or to book a lesson for a parent.
Nobody is rushed, and there’s no jargon. If something doesn’t make sense, I explain it a different way until it does.
What a first lesson looks like
- A short conversation about what you want to be able to do
- A quick check that your device is up to date and set up to be easy to use
- Working through your list one item at a time, with you doing the tapping and clicking
- A recap at the end, with written steps if you’d like them
What a customer said
Great customer service. Matthew was very professional and knowledgeable when it came to issues I was having with my home computer. After outlining the issues I was experiencing, he was very patient in explaining to this boomer what he was doing and why he was doing it. My computer is working efficiently again and I have a new sense of security. I would highly recommend MJC Business IT to anyone needing assistance with their personal or small business needs.

Common questions
Are the lessons only for seniors?
No. They’re for anyone who wants patient, one-on-one help, whether it’s a first smartphone, a new laptop, or finally getting comfortable with email.
How many lessons will I need?
It depends on what you want to learn. We set goals in the first lesson, and you decide whether to book more.
Can I book a lesson for my mom or dad?
Yes. You can book and pay for it, and you’re welcome to join. I’ll check with them first about what they want to learn, so the time goes to what matters to them.
What should I have ready?
Your devices, charged, and the passwords you use for them. If you’re not sure where your passwords are, that makes a good first lesson.
